I suspect that you're familiar with this usage of the verb to suck, but in case you're not, I looked it up in Merriam-Webster OnLine, "They're trying to win with 'process' a case that they know they're unlikely to win on its merits."
where I learned that the "official" slang definition of to suck is "to be objectionable or inadequate." This, of course, is the sense in which I'm using the term.
However, the irony is that I do not believe that The Shops at Willow Bend (an impressive new shopping mall in Plano, Texas) actually sucks. In fact, I'm a great fan of The Shops at Willow Bend, and I'm thrilled that the Taubman Company did such a great job of designing and building the mall. And I'm especially pleased that the mall is located right up the street from my home in Dallas.
Unfortunately, the law firm of Gifford, Krass, Groh, Sprinkle, Anderson & Citkowski does suck, as does the Taubman Company, which has decided to drag me into court. Not only is Taubman suing me, they've taken what started as a straightforward trademark dispute and have managed to escalate it into a free-speech issue.
Their law firm is using every trick in the book (I shouldn't say that, maybe I haven't seen all of their tricks yet) in an attempt to bully me into crying "uncle." They're trying to bury me under an avalanche of motions in an obvious attempt to overwhelm me, to win with "process" a case that they know they're unlikely to win on its merits.
Since I possess very limited resources with which to defend myself from this legal onslaught, I decided that my best option was to make use of that great equalizer, the World Wide Web. Which is, of course, why I decided to register and use the domain names listed at the top of this page.
By the way, I suspect that the more cynical among you may think that the phrase "the law firm sucks" is redundant. But, as it happens, my dad is a lawyer, my brother-in-law is a lawyer, my nephew is a lawyer, and I have many other relatives and friends who are lawyers; most of them are good people and decent human beings, and they rank quite low on the suckiness scale.
However, it is my considered opinion that the Taubman Company and their legal representatives, the law firm of Gifford, Krass, Groh, Sprinkle, Anderson & Citkowski, do indeed suck, big time. "

Much More on Trademarks, Intellectual Property, Internet and Patent Laws will be posting on this site. If you have a Trademark Concern.. there are options.. for example NAR, the National Association of Realtors battles daily to Stop people from using REALTOR in domain names and cannot seem to Stop them.. NAR does not even seem to understand the different ways people use to make money from such an Internet property..
